DOCE PARES MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY
ABOUT
Doce Pares Martial Arts Academy, or DPMAA, is a Maui-based school dedicated to teaching the local community about Filipino Martial Arts and the culture tied to it. We welcome all levels of experience from ages 12 and up, and are working to build a children's class by 2019.
Doce Pares is Spanish for "Twelve Pairs," which briefly titles the twelve Masters that came together to form this particular art. Doce Pares is defined as a form of Arnis, Kali and Eskrima, or a Filipino martial art that focuses primarily on stick fighting, knife fighting and hand-to-hand combat, but also covers grappling and other weapons as well. Instructor Tyrone Jacinto of DPMAA has a multitude of experience in other martial arts including Muay Thai, Judo, Wing Chun, Kickboxing and Wrestling, and he believes that Doce Pares has proven itself to be the most practical of all that he has learned. The pacing is for everyone and the content is rich, so both those with no experience and those with extensive previous martial arts knowledge will find themselves equally captivated.
